  1. be the pods obtained from the plant Arachis hypogaea
  2. have characteristics shape, size, appearance and configuration of the Bold Coromandel variety
  3. be free from fungus and insect attack, live and/ or dead insects obnoxious smell, rodent contamination and excreta, larvae and pupae

Definitions

  1. Extraneous matter means dust, lumps of earth, shell, dirt, stones, stem, straw or any other impurity or any other edible/ non edible oil seeds
  2. Immature and shrivelled pods are those pods, which are imperfectly, developed and/ or shrunken
  3. Damaged and discoloured pods are those pods that are damaged mechanically or by mould, weevil or any other insect attack or those showing internal discoloration materially affecting the quality
  4. Pods of other varieties means the pods of other than the principal variety/ type of groundnut.
  5. Shelling per cent means the weight of kernels found in 100 grams of pod

Note: Handpicked selected Groundnut pods shall be subject to Aflatoxin test only if there is specific demand from the foreign buyer.

Groundnut shall be

  1. Clean, wholesome, reasonably uniform in size, shape and colour characteristic to the variety

  2. Free from obnoxious smell and fungus infestation.

Sampling

  • 5 % or minimum one container shall be randomly selected for sampling.

  • 250 gm shall be drawn from each selected container and shall be mixed homogenously, called as primary sample.

  • 250 gm shall be drawn from primary sample called as Laboratory sample.

Definitions

  • Foreign matter includes husk, straws, weed seeds, other inedible grains, metallic pieces, sand, gravel, dirt, pebbles, stones, lumps of earth, clay, mud and animal filth etc.

  • Pods of other varieties means pods other than the one which is under consideration

  • Damaged pods are internally damaged as a result of heat, microbe, moisture or weather and mechanical injury

  • Shelling means the weight of kernels found in 100 grams of pods.

Optional parameters are voluntary and may be analyzed as per buyer-seller agreement.
