WDRA and Indian Bank exchanged MoU to promote pledge finance against e-NWRs in the country on 19-08-2024 at WDRA Office, NCUI Building, August Kranti Marg, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. This MoU will facilitate farmers and traders in getting loans with no additional collateral at attractive rates of interest

The MoU was exchanged between Shri T K Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, WDRA and Shri Bijay Kumar Sarangi, General Manager, Indian Bank in the presence of Mukesh Kumar Jain, Member, WDRA, Shri Naveen Barolia, Deputy Director(M&C), Shri Sai Pradeep, Assistant Director(SAO), WDRA, Shri Waseem Ahmad, DGM, Indian Bank and other officers of WDRA

Shri Kiran Karamil, Counsellor(Agriculture), Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australian High Commission, New Delhi visited WDRA on 09.04.2024 to have a introductory meeting with the senior officers of WDRA.

During the meeting, WDRA Officers gave a presentation explaining functions of WDRA, electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipt(e-NWR) eco-system and loaning against e-NWR

WDRA is happy to announce the launch of ‘ई- किसान उपज निधि’ (e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi) on 04.03.2024 at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles.

Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles in his inaugural address said that ‘ई- किसान उपज निधि’ (e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi) initiative is an important stepping stone in our efforts to make farming attractive. He also noted that ‘e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi’ can help to prevent distress sale by farmers.

Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister of State CA, F&PD and Environment, Forest and Climate Change through a video message urged farmers to store their produce in WDRA registered warehouses and avail the advantages of ‘ई- किसान उपज निधि’ to obtain post-harvest loans of their choice.

At the launch of the Digital Gateway - ‘ई- किसान उपज निधि’ (e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi), Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister handed over certificates of pledge loan in-principle approvals generated digitally on ‘ई- किसान उपज निधि’ (e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi) to farmers from different parts of the country.

An MoU was signed with the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on 23.11.2023 at Srinagar for creating awareness among the farmers, warehouse owners, traders for scientific storage of agriculture produce, preservation practices, assaying procedures and stacking practices. The MoU was signed by Shri H.K. Dabas, Under Secretary, WDRA and Prof Haroon R Naik, Director (Research), SKUAST-K, in the august presence of Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, and Shri T.K. Manoj Kumar, Chairman, WDRA.

WDRA organized a Seminar on the “Role of Financial Institutions in Promoting e-NWR Based Pledge Finance” on the occasion of its 13th Foundation Day on 1st November, 2023 at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi. Shri Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

A conference was organized by WDRA with its training partners at India Habitat Centre on 01.11.2023 to review the progress of Farmers Awareness Programmes, Warehouseman Training Programmes and Assayers Training Programmes.

Shri T K Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, WDRA delivered a special address in the Conference on Climate Smart Agriculture organised by FICCI on 19th October, 2023 at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi.

WDRA signed MoUs with the Bank of India in 27th September 2023 to promote pledge finance against e-NWRs in the country. The MoUs will facilitate farmers and traders in providing attractive interest rate loans with no additional collateral. The MoU was exchanged between Shri T K Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, WDRA and Shri Rajneesh Karnatak, MD & CEO, Bank of India (BoI) in the presence of Shri M Karthikeyan, Executive Director, BoI and other senior officers of BoI and WDRA.

WDRA participated in the Global SME Finance Forum meet in Mumbai on 13.09.2023. The program was held as a side event of the G20 Presidency of India and had the theme of “Digital Ecosystems and the Future of SME Finance”. Represented by Joint Secretary Shri Dheeraj Sahu, WDRA took part in the breakout session on “Ecosystem for Supply Chain”. The other panelists included banks and digital finance firms from Hong Kong, the Philippines and India..

Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Joint Secretary, WDRA represented India in the 40th Session of the Working Group on Warehouse Receipts of UNCITRAL - UN Commission on International Trade Laws held in Vienna in September 2023. The session was attended by 25+ countries. Shri Dheeraj Sahu shared the experience of Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority, Government of India and suggested improvements in the Model Law on warehouse receipts drafted by UNCITRAL with the help of UNIDROIT.

WDRA organised a Conference on e-NWR based Pledge Finance with Regional Rural Banks on 18.08.2023 at New Delhi. The objective of the conference was to create awareness amongst the RRBs about the benefits of the WDRA eco-system and persuade them to extend pledge finance against e-NWRs.
